No winners but everyone's a winner.

Sorry ladies but neither of you got it right. But thanks for playing with me. I'll get a tag to both of you.

So I won't keep you in suspense any longer. Here is what the Tin man found for me. Lots and lots of clock parts. We went to a garage sale of a man who was a retired clock repair man. Whoo hoo look at all my wheels and gears and cogs and brass...

He spent the rest of the day taking apart a few of the clock. My mind is spinning with ideas.

Guess and win a tag!!

Another week over and no more new jewelry to show you but I had a great outing with some special friends and some garage saling with the Tin Man.
I spent Wednesday with my two wonderful friends, Sheila and Renee. We were lucky enough to go visit Jennifer at her Milk House Gallery(seen above). Every time I go she has new things to inspire and intrigue me. Check out Jennifer and Sheila's blogs for more about our day together.
Here are my finds from the Milk House Gallery. Do you see a theme going on here! Yes the jewelry making has taken over my life and mind. I'm not sure I needed more inspiration but that is exactly what I got. Now to just find an extra day or 2 in the week!! LOL

Today the Tin Man took me garage saling. I haven't had much time for checking out the garage sales this year which I have definitely missed.
Wait till you see what the Tin Man found for me at a garage sale today.

Can you guess?

Give it a try. If you can guess by Sunday at noon I'll send you a tag I've made. Just put your guess in the comments(making sure you add or have a link for your e-mail so I can get your mailing information if you win).

Good Luck!

Copper...I can't get enough!

That's right I've been back at the sheet copper that the Tin man got for me. I've been sawing, hammering, dapping and riveting. I love it. I get lost in it. There is so much to learn and try out. This is my dapping set I got at the Beadfest last month. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get the disc cutter at the same time but I think I see it in my future! LOL.
These earring are made with my new dapper. It forms the dome shape of discs. For now I'm sawing my own disc.
The background on this piece has been hammers to give it texture and then rivet the brass bloom word and "flowers". I also antique it with Liver of sulphur and tumble it.This is my steampunk version with a similar textured background as the above necklace.

Today I experimented with etching copper. I think I can say it was a success. I'll try and get some pictures of the etched pieces on soon.

Harvest time.

Okay after having said yesterday that fall is not my favourite time of year, today almost makes me want to change my mind. Yesterday was a wet dreary day but I did make it to a local produce market to pick up some fresh veggies. Today is wonderfully sunny and as you can see I've started my tomatoes stewing for the day. I didn't get many tomatoes from my own garden this year but luckily Rideau Pines had some left for stewing. I also picked up some fresh onions, potatoes, squash(for the Tin man), leeks, garlic, and ornamental gourds and pumpkins. Nothing like fresh local produce in the fall. That should keep us fed for a while.

Well after a busy domestic week I'm off to play in the studio for the afternoon. Who knows what will come of it today though. I'll keep you posted.

Country living

I love living in the country. And although Fall is not my favourite time of year I do look forward to seeing the deer each day as we are on their daily route for food. We have three crap apples in our yard starting to drop fruit so they circle our house to get their daily fix of apples. I rarely get photos of them because it's so hard to get out without being spotted or heard but somehow this morning I was quiet enough opening the front door and caught then almost unaware. I guess I was shaded enough that when they looked over they couldn't see me as I stood as stock still as they did. He stared right at me as I stared back. It was a magical moment for me.

Quick note

A quick note to show you my display at Fibrefest this past weekend. It was a wonderful show and I'd like to thank all those people who came to visit me. I met so many interesting people I forgot to take pictures. So these pictures are from my friend Sheila. I've been getting a lot of complement on my display since a changed it this summer. I think it now has a great vintage feel with the antique suit case and wicker basket that goes well with my copper and brass jewelry.

Well today is going to be a catch up day after a busy weekend and the last few days. A little house cleaning and then back to more jewelry creating. I've started a few new pieces. I'll get them posted as soon as they're presentable.

Christian's Art

Well we managed to get son #1 all moved and what a job that turned out to be. How can one so young have already accumulated so much stuff. He does come from pack rat stock and in that he does accelerate. He's about to start his third year at Sheridan Collage in Visual and Creative arts. For those art followers out there you can appreciate how much stuff we need for our creative ways. If only the Tin man could appreciate it as much! Here is Christian with his large piece of art from last year. He and the Tin man just finished putting it up on the wall and here the Tin man is fixing his coffee table that had a small mishap during the move.
Here is the complete piece which covers the whole wall in their new living room. As you can see he is the one who has taught me about steam punk.

So with that job done and we're back home, I have the week to make jewelry in preparation for this weekends upcoming show. I'll be at the Fibrefest in Almonte all weekend. I'll give you the hours in an upcoming post.

Have a great day.

Butterfly tag.

It's been a long time since I've done the Tag Tuesday challenge over at Kard Krazy. I've checked it out a few time in hope of finding the time to do a tag but alas the time did not cooperate. So when I checked the theme for this week and saw that it was butterflies, I had to agree with Louise that it was an easy one and I too have more butterfly stuff than even I realized.

My work table was already set up(read overrun) with card making supplies since I've been taking some time to replenish my card stock for up coming shows. So all I had to do was change my stamp choices from sewing to butterfly and away I went making a tag and some butterfly cards. If only tag tuesday always fit into my work schedule so well!!

The main stamp with the girl with butterfly wings I found still in the package not even mounted yet. (Shame on me!!) What a beauty she is. How could I have left her unattended for so long. So now that she's mounted I'm seeing some shrink plastic jewelry for her future.

I'm off to move son #1 this weekend. I'm not sure if there's room for the lap top in the truck so blogging may have to wait for next week. If I can sneak it in without the Tin man noticing I'll keep you posted.

Have a great day!
